Mann's latest project: Luck (2011)

This is a new horse-racing drama from HBO. The TV series will center on an intelligent, intuitive tough man who always has been involved with gambling, from bookmaking and money laundering to casino operations. Recently released from prison after four years, he teams with Gus Economou, his longtime chauffeur and muscle, to craft a complex plan involving the track. They recruit Turo Escalante, a successful trainer with a sordid reputation.

Michael Mann is producing the show, also directed the pilot episode. After HBO have seen the pilot episode, they ordered a whole season! Henry Bronchtein (The Sopranos) is also producing!

David Milch wrote the pilot, who was the writer of popular TV series like "Deadwood" and "NYPD Blue".

The show is photographed by UK cinematographer, Stuart Dryburgh. He shot movies like The Piano, Once Were Warriors, Analyze This, Bridget Jones's Diary, Kate & Leopold.

The cast will be amazing! The starring role is played by Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman! Also starring: Nick Nolte, Richard Kind, Dennis Farina, Kevin Dunn and John Ortiz!

"Michael Mann delivered a pilot from David Milch's brilliant script that took our breath away," said Michael Lombardo, president of HBO programming, in a statement. "We are truly excited that these two artists, and our extraordinary cast headed by Dustin Hoffman, will be bringing Luck to life."

With these artists this show can't be bad! I personally hope it will be an another quality HBO show in the vein of "The Sopranos".

The pilot was shot in Los Angeles this April, and after the order the shooting will continue this fall at Santa Anita Park and other locations in and around Los Angeles. The show will be released next year.

I am a young filmmaker and a HUGE Michael Mann fan and I think that he is a very underrated filmmaker in our days, so I made this blog, because want to create a place on the internet, where you can find every important and interesting information, news, rumours, pictures and interview about Michael Mann and his movies.
